Gregg Marshall has taken two different mid-major programs to new heights in his coaching career. Here are the 10 best players that he’s been able to work with.

One of the coaches with the highest active winning percentages is Gregg Marshall, who has won 480 of 661 total games (73%). Most of it has come from Wichita State, where he arrived in 2007 and in a decade has turned the program into a powerhouse.

The Shockers has gone to the Final Four one year and went through the regular season unbeaten the next. Four 30+ win seasons later, they were invited to join the American Athletic Conference, considered to be a non-mid-major group of teams.

Marshall has enjoyed the success and accolades that have come with being at Wichita State but don’t think that’s the only place h’s been great at. An untold story has been what he did at his previous stop, turning them into a power as well.

Before Marshall arrived at Winthrop University, the program went through a 7-20 season, with many more losing campaigns before then. Things changed immediately, with the Eagles getting a 14 win improvement. They also went to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.

It turned out not to be a fluke, with Marshall and Winthrop making the Big Dance seven out of nine years, with each one being a winning season. After a 29-5 season, Marshall went to Wichita State – with the rest being history.

In the 20 years Marshall has been a D-1 coach, he’s worked with some great players. Here is a list of the 10 best players he’s been with, a continuation of my series regarding the active head coaching rankings (No. 16).
