Arizona Basketball: Top 10 Players to Play for Head Coach Sean Miller
Sean Miller is one of the best young basketball coaches in the country. Who are the top 10 players that’s he coached to this point?
This past season has been the most draining for Arizona Basketball Head Coach Sean Miller. He had to deal with inconsistent play to start the season, as well as his program being the target of an FBI Investigation into corruption in the sport.
Miller was in hot water after he was accused of paying for a star player, with another one dealing with the NCAA in another issue. Still, the Wildcats rebounded to win the Pac-12 regular season and tournament for a 27 win season.
It’s become a thing of the norm for the school since Miller arrived in 2009. With the exception of his first season, he’s led the school to at least 23 wins, with seven NCAA Tournament appearances (six straight).
It’s not a surprise when you consider the success he had at Xavier beforehand. In five years with the Musketeers, made the Big Dance in four of them, dominating the Atlantic-10 Conference. And unlike now where he has the luxury of coaching the top recruits from the west coast, Miller had to develop unheralded players into future stars.
Although Miller has yet to make a Final Four, he’s set up Arizona Basketball to be in solid position for another decade, making it just a matter of time. He’s No. 15 from my earlier piece of the top-25 active head coaches, and I’ll be listing the 10 best players to get him to this point.
This one’s tricky because of the infusing of “one and done” talents that he’s gotten recently. I had to balance the player’s one great year compared to four good years from the others. With a lack of a Final Four to separate these guys, it was somewhat difficult to rank the players. Nevertheless, I managed to pull it off.
