Between his time at Pittsburgh and now at TCU, NCAA Basketball Head Coach Jamie Dixon has had a great run. Here are the top 10 players he’s coached during this run.

When Jamie Dixon started out in the coaching ranks, he slowly rose up the ranks. The TCU alum spent a dozen years as an assistant at various gigs before the University of Pittsburgh offered him his first head coaching job.

From the very beginning, Panthers’ fans and administrators knew the right decision was made. The team went 31-5 in Dixon’s first year, winning the regular-season title and he taking home the Big East Coach of the Year Award.

Things continued to go well for around a decade, with Pittsburgh never finishing below .500 and making the NCAA Tournament eight consecutive seasons (10 total).

Behind the scenes, however, weren’t going as smoothly for both sides. Although the Panthers were a consistent contender, some locally felt that the program was going stagnant, and may be in need of a change.

Dixon decided to leave on his own terms, going back to his alma mater TCU. The Horned Frogs were considered the worst power conference basketball program, having not made the Big Dance in decades and is in the basement since arriving in the Big 12.

Dixon silenced all the doubters since leaving, leading the Horned Frogs to back-to-back 20-win seasons and the program’s first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 1998 in the Western Athletic Conference.

While his work in the Steel City was already impressive, what Dixon has done in just two seasons has solidified himself as one of the best college basketball coaches in the game. I have him ranked as the 13th best according to my top-25 active head coaches, with the 52-year old likely to move up in the coming years.

There have been some great players throughout Dixon’s tenure. So I decided to list and rank the 10 best players that he has coached over the years.
