15. Michael Ruffin – Tulsa Hurricanes (1996-1999)

Career stats: 9.4 ppg 9.5 rpg 1.2 apg

The best player that Coach Self had at Tulsa, Ruffin was a supreme rebounder. He averaged a double-double his senior season, guiding the Hurricanes to an NCAA berth.

14. Brandon Rush – Kansas Jayhawks (2006-2008)

Career stats: 13.6 ppg 5.5 rpg 2.0 apg

Rush was a very productive player for the Jayhawks during his three years. He averaged over 13 ppg each season while leading the team in scoring the first two times. He capped it off by playing a major role in the 2008 title season, including 25 points in the Final Four win over North Carolina.

13. Frank Williams – Illinois Fighting Illini (2000-2002)

Career stats: 14.3 ppg 4.0 rpg 4.3 apg

When Coach Self first arrived at Illinois, he was blessed to have a ready-made point guard in Williams to lead the way. In the coach’s first season with them, Williams averaged 14.9 ppg and 4.4 apg. He won Big Ten Player of the Year in 2001, and lead the Illini to a 27-win season.

12. Josh Jackson – Kansas Jayhawks (2017)

Career stats: 16.3 ppg 7.4 rpg 3.0 apg

On the Elite Eight squad in 2017, Jackson was an effortless scorer who was a finalist for the Wooden Award that year. His lone 30 point game came at Texas Tech, where he finished with double-digit rebounds as well. Jackson had an underrated all-around game, playing solidly on the defensive end too.

11. Marcus Morris – Kansas Jayhawks (2009-2011)

Career stats: 12.6 ppg 6.2 rpg 1.3 apg

The better scorer of the twin duo in college, Marcus exploded his junior year in that category. He averaged 17.2 ppg and 7.6 rpg, including a career-high 33 points and 13 boards in a game against Iowa State. This twin ended up winning Big 12 Player of the Year in 2011.
