North Carolina Basketball: 20 Greatest Players to Ever Play for Head Coach Roy Williams

Roy Williams arguably has had a Hall of Fame career at two different schools. Who are the greatest players that have ever played for him?

When it comes to the greatest coaches of all-time, Roy Williams of the North Carolina Tar Heels has an argument to make that his name should be part of the conversation.

He has nine Final Four appearances in total, as well as three NCAA Championships. In the 30 years that the 66-year-old head coach has been a head coach, Williams has just missed the Big Dance two times, including his very first year with the Kansas Jayhawks.

Even before he came back to his alma mater Tar Heels, Williams was considered one of the best coaches with the Jayhawks. The program only had one season with less than 23 total wins while he was at the helm, with several Final Four destinations along the way.

Once he went back to UNC, Williams ignited a historic coaching rivalry with Mike Krzyzewski of Duke Basketball, with the two programs having arguably the best leaders in the game.

These two also have the top spots from my earlier active coaching rankings, with Williams barely coming up short at No. 2. But who knows, maybe another title like the one the Tar Heels just got in 2017 may vault him up to the top spot.
