Duke basketball traditionally brings in some of the best recruits in the nation. Looking ahead, who are some of the top 2019 targets for the Blue Devils?

Duke basketball is one of the best programs in the entire nation. A true “blueblood” by definition, the Blue Devils have been consistently excellent under head coach Mike Krzyzewski. With every year that passes, it seems as though the expectations facing the program get even higher, as hard as that might be to imagine. With top recruiting classes coming in year after year, Duke is seemingly always a preseason top-5 team in the country with national title expectations.

The 2018-19 campaign will be no different. Even though there is no clear leader on the roster, the Blue Devils recruiting class, which ranks No. 1 in the nation, is enough reason to believe that they can go the distance with quality coaching. This class consists of three of the top-5 2018 recruits as well as the No. 12 and No. 31 players. As is always the case with Duke, though, many of these players could potentially only play one season with the team. By the look of things, it seems like at least three, and possibly four, members of this class will not last past 2018-19.

Because of this, the Duke program always has to be looking a year ahead. With this being said, the coaching staff is already on the recruiting trail for the class of 2019 with several top players on their radar. There is a possibility of seemingly up to six open scholarships next season if four freshmen elect to leave the school early.

That is why it is important to dive into who might be starring for the Blue Devils in 2019-20. It may be a bit early but here is a look at some of the top 2019 recruiting targets for Coach K and his staff. (Some of the targets not in this article include Matthew Hurt, Precious Achiuwa, and Aidan Igiehon, among others.)
