NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Top 10 Junior College Transfers for 2018-19
6. Austin Trice – Kansas State Wildcats
2017-18 stats: 12.6 ppg and 12.1 rpg at Wabash Valley College
Kansas State’s Elite Eight run this past season exposed a couple of things. One, they’re a very talented team (who all returns for next season). However, the injury to top scorer and rebounder Dean Wade showed how little frontcourt depth they had.
That’s where Trice comes in. The 6’7 and 230-pound forward is a great rebounder and solid defender who’ll provide much-needed depth for the team. With his strength and long wingspan, Trice can handle the opposing Big 12 big men. He has a good chance to start depending on how camp goes, possibly on a preseason top-10 team.
5. Yuat Alok – TCU Horned Frogs
2017-18 stats: 12.3 ppg and 7.0 rpg at Chipola College
Jamie Dixon’s connections to New Zealand worked in this recruitment, getting the Aukland native Alok. He’s a 6’11 big man with a great offensive game, able to make three-points at an efficient rate. The junior shot over 80% from the charity stripe as well.
TCU does have some frontcourt depth leftover despite losing several key players. Yet the competition for minutes is wide-open, with the departures of Vladimir Brodziansky and Kenrich Williams. Alok has a great chance at starting, playing a big role in the Horned Frogs’ quest to make the Big Dance again.
