The Baylor Bears just got a big coup for next season when standout wing Jordan Turner committed to the team on Wednesday.

2019 three-star wing Jordan Turner committed to the Baylor Bears on June 13 following his unofficial visit to campus. He is Scott Drew’s first commit from next year’s class. The Bears have 20 open offers though they are only expected to have two more scholarships available for 2019 per Verbal Commits.

“I choose Baylor because, one they have an amazing atmosphere and they love me and my family,” Turner told 247Sports. “But what really bought me was there Christian perspective in many things.”

Turner possesses a well-rounded game, but what he does best is shoot it from long-distance. The Houston native also handles the ball well and get to the hoop off the dribble. In addition, he thrives on the defensive end and is a good rebounder.

The 6-foot-7 prospect played for Team Faith on the Adidas Gauntlet circuit this spring, where he averaged 15.7 points and 6.0 rebounds in nine games. He shot the ball well from beyond the arc during this period, draining 17 of 41 (41.5%) 3-point attempts.

Turner chose Baylor over Florida, SMU, and Oklahoma. He also offers from Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas and Texas A&M.

Baylor went 19-15 last season, marking their 11th straight season with a winning record under Drew. Although it was the first time since the 2010-11 campaign that the Bears failed to win at least 20 victories. They finished sixth in Big 12 play with an 8-10 conference record, however, the Bears still received an NIT bid.

Baylor received one of the top-seeds in the 2018 NIT. BU defeated No. 8 Wagner in the opening round, but fell to Miss State (78-77) in the second round.

Drew has brought in a four-man 2018 recruiting class to help overcome the loss of Manu Lecomte, J0-Lual-Acuil, Terry Maston and Nuni Omot. Those players were the Bears top four scorers and were responsible for 66.7% of the teams scoring as well as 52.8% of their rebounding.

Matthew Moyer, a top-100 recruit, tops the Bears 2018 recruiting class. 4-star center Florent Thamba along with junior college transfers David Allen and Darius Allen round out the class.

Drew has compiled a 298-194 record in 15 seasons in Waco. Drew has led the Bears to six NCAA tournament bids, reaching the Sweet 16 (twice) and Elite Eight(twice), and to the NIT three times. The Bears won the NIT in 2012-13 and were runners-up in 2008-09.
