NBA Draft 2018: 5 second-round sleepers ready to play right away
Tony Carr, Penn State
Tony Carr is definitely a player that I would take a flyer on in the second round if I was a general manager of an NBA team. Despite the fact that he lacks elite quickness or a burst on the offensive end, he simply knows how to make plays. As a sophomore this past season, Carr was one of the best guards not only in the Big Ten but in the country. However, due to an average season for Penn State, many of his accomplishments have been overshadowed.
Nonetheless, it is hard to overlook his stat line. There are simply not that many players who could average 19.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game while connecting on 43.3% of 203 3-point attempts. Every team in the NBA needs more shooting and Carr would definitely bring that to a team. In addition, though, his height (6-foot-5) makes him a tantalizing prospect at the point guard position.
He might not possess the raw athleticism that many guards in this draft class have but he exceeds almost all of them when it comes to production. Considering he is only 20-years-old and has this much overall skill and size, Carr would be a valuable asset to take a chance on.
Busting Brackets projection: Late second round to undrafted.
