NCAA Basketball: Kentucky, Duke, Kansas Listed As National Title Favorites By Oddsmakers
By Brian Rauf
Vegas Oddsmakers have released what they think are the favorites to win the 2019 National Championship. Who should you put your bets on?
The 2018-19 NCAA basketball season is still months away, but with some key transferring picking their new schools and a few top prospects reclassifying to the 2018 recruiting class, there have been major changes to the national landscape.
Kentucky was already projected to be a top-five team and now, after Stanford transfer Reid Travis committed and five-star point guard Ashton Hagans reclassified to join the Wildcats this summer, have now become the national title favorite, according to Bovada’supdated national championship odds.
Duke entered the offseason as favorites thanks to the No. 1 incoming recruiting class, headlined by the top two prospects in the country in R.J. Barrett and Cam Reddish, but lost their entire starting lineup to the NBA Draft.
Both Kansas and defending champion Villanova lost four starters from their Final Four teams last season, but Vegas appears to have enough confidence in their stellar recruiting classes to keep them among the favorites.
Gonzaga rounds out the top five as the highest mid-major on the list, barely edging out Nevada. They are both consensus top-10 teams going into next season.
