NCAA Basketball: Top 40 sit-out transfers elegible for 2018-19
12. Ed Morrow C Jr, Marquette
16-17 Stats: 9.4ppg 7.5rpg at Nebraska
Morrow was a starter for Nebraska before making the surprising decision to transfer. He looks like the starting center for Marquette, an offensive minded team that could use his physical interior play. Morrow is a perfect compliment next to skilled frontcourt players like Sam and Joey Hauser, but defense could be this team’s achilles heel. It seems like Marquette will return to the NCAA Tournament and a top 25 ranking might not even be out of place.
11. Charlie Moore PG So, Kansas
16-17 Stats: 12.2ppg 3.5apg 35%3pt at California
Moore is a difficult player to rank because of the high chance that he is recruited over at Kansas. In fact, he may have already been recruited over as incoming freshman Devon Dotson has received rave reviews. Even if he comes off the bench this season, Moore will make an impact as a scorer and distributor on a consensus top ten team. He impressed as a freshman on a solid, but under achieving Cal squad.
10. Chase Jeter C Jr, Arizona
16-17 Stats: 2.6ppg 2.7rpg 1.1bpg at Duke
Jeter’s ranking is based on his intriguing upside since the long athletic big man was unable to carve out a consistent role at Duke. He is a former 5-star recruit who will have a clear path to major minutes and a starting role on a new-look Arizona roster. If Arizona returns to the NCAA Tournament, Jeter’s strong play will be a major reason why.
9. CJ Bryce Wing Jr, NC State
16-17 Stats: 17.4ppg 5.4rpg 3.0apg 33%3pt at UNC Wilmington
Bryce thrived in Kevin Keatts’ system at UNCW and he should benefit from following his coach to NCST. He is a talented scorer who excelled as a small-ball PF on an excellent UNCW team that challenged Duke and Virginia in the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons. Bryce will likely play the three and the perimeter four spot for NCST and should have a major impact on a criminally underrated Wolfpack squad.
8. Marial Shayok Wing Sr, Iowa State
16-17 Stats: 8.9ppg 33%3pt at Virginia
Shayok is a rare sit-one play-one transfer who is the perfect fit for this emerging Iowa State squad which consistently relies on transfers. Shayok will have more offensive freedom at Iowa State and will likely start alongside Nick Babb and Lindell Wigginton on the perimeter. He will probably average double figures and provide strong defense on the wing for a rebuilt Cyclones team.
7. Marcus Evans PG Jr, VCU
16-17 Stats: 19.0ppg 3.7apg 3.3rpg 38%3pt at Rice
This ranking is dependent on Evans being healthy to start the season which is not a given. Evans recently suffered another achilles injury, but the extend is unknown (or at least not reported). He is a dynamic PG who has proven to be an explosive scorer. With Evans, VCU has a much-needed go-to scorer and premier PG, without him they could struggle and slip to the middle of the A-10. VCU should compete with Saint Louis at the top of the A-10 with Evans.
