Kansas State Basketball: Building on the last two seasons for a potential great 2018-19
From the First Four to the precipice of the Final Four in two seasons. How is Kansas State Basketball using that journey to prepare for this season?
It has been a quick journey of progression for the Kansas State Wildcats. Two years ago, they were a participant in the First Four, last season they nearly made the Final Four.
The way things ended last season for the Wildcats may have been disappointing, but the way it ended could’ve been the best thing to happen to coach Bruce Weber and his team.
The Wildcats finished the season at 25-12 earning an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as a No. 9 seed. The Wildcats rode some regional luck and hot play all the way to the regional final. Unfortunately for Kansas State, they ran into an even hotter Loyola squad, falling one game short of a trip to San Antonio. That in itself is disappointing but what they went through to reach that point should leave them very optimistic for the coming season.
The Big 12 was the toughest conference in the country last season and the Wildcats finished 4th with a 10-8 record, despite being picked to finish 7th before the season started. All but two losses, back-to-back defeats at Oklahoma and TCU, came at the hands of a team ranked in the top 18 at the time.
