With a lot of expectations on Avery Johnson and Alabama Basketball to make it back to the NCAA Tournament, will they be able to deliver?

Last year was one to remember for Alabama basketball fans. They beat their rival twice, watched a top-10 NBA Draft prospect all season, and made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, where they lost to the eventual champion in Villanova. Any fan who made it to a game last year was blessed with a great performance by the Crimson Tide on almost every night. Between the freshman cast and upperclassmen presence, the team blended perfectly to make Alabama an amazing team. Add in NBA-caliber coaching from Avery Johnson and it all worked out amazingly.

However, last season is behind us. Collin Sexton is gone, and the Crimson Chaos will be watching this season with its own storylines and challenges. Fans can watch in amazement, but they all have to be asking the same question: can the Crimson Tide make it back to where it was last season?

Optimistically, they most certainly can. Realistically, it will take some improvements in a few aspects of their game, but they can definitely contend for a playoff spot. A lot of people would believe that their playoff hopes last year rose and fell on the shoulders of Sexton, but that wasn’t always the case. He played injured for many games, and his fellow teammates helped lighten the load. Also, he’s not the only player leaving. This team will have a lot of the same cast, but it will be an entirely new journey.
