Step One: Fill Collin Sexton’s Shoes

Okay, this is a big Step One. I don’t mean to take this matter lightly. I literally wrote an article on how Collin Sexton has impacted the Crimson Tide for years to come. The man got 19.2 points, 3.8 boards, and 3.6 dimes a game this past season. His total win shares for the year got to 4.4, and they needed every single win to make it to the Big Dance. He did all of these things and it still took a game-winning floater in the SEC tournament to punch their ticket. So, if they barely made it with all this from Sexton, how will they make it without him?

How to replace Sexton

This will have to be done by committee. Every returning player will come back stronger than last year, and they’ll have to for this year to be a success. There is not a single person who can fill Sexton’s shoes, but, like they did when he was hurt last year, the team can fill in the cracks together. Sexton’s minutes will be absorbed by Avery Johnson Jr. and Tevin Mack, a new transfer from Texas. Johnson has an aggressiveness to his game that will help replace Sexton’s tenacity in rivalry games. Mack hasn’t seen the floor for the Tide, but many expect him to succeed in Crimson.

Sexton’s play-making can be done by many players. If every player on the court adds a little extra to their game, this can be done.
