Pepperdine Basketball is currently in a rebuilding phase in the WCC. It could go faster than expected, thanks to a stud sophomore in Colbey Ross.

One school has dominated the West Coast Conference recently and that doesn’t appear to be changing any time soon. The league is still ripe with numerous talented players. The players in the conference often go unnoticed for two reasons. One is that the conference has been dominated in every aspect by the Gonzaga Bulldogs, and they usually have most of the NBA talent.

The second reason that a lot of the players on the other teams go unnoticed is simply underexposure. The West Coast conference plays their games so late at night that the majority of the College Basketball viewing audience is asleep. While the fans are sleeping, the smaller West Coast schools are often putting on a show. One of the players who should be more well-known is Pepperdine Waves sophomore guard Colbey Ross.

The Waves are a school that does not have much tradition when it comes to basketball. In fact, in many years the Waves have been virtually overpowered in their conference. They’re armed with a new coach in Lorenzo Romar. He’s experienced a little success in his tenure with the Washington Huskies, is going to have his work cut out for him.

The school from Malibu looks to get back on the college basketball landscape and coach Romar and his staff hope that Ross is the player who can help get them back to the promised land. The Waves are going to have to rely on Ross to provide virtually every ounce of offense this team is going to get. Will Romar be able to squeeze enough out of Ross to make the Waves relevant?
