With new rookies fresh off of excellent NCAA basketball seasons joining The Association, how might the NBA 2K development team hand out ratings?

The release of a new NBA 2K game gets fans across the world exciting for basketball every single year. It is the most popular basketball simulation video game in the world and is consistently one of the top-selling games each year. Despite users yearning for changes to the gameplay or features every single year, the 2K franchise is thriving and continuing to grow. As fans yearn for the upcoming release of NBA 2K19 this fall, there are several key features to look for.

Traditional game modes such as MyTeam, MyCareer, and MyLeague should all be back as fan-favorites and hopefully some additions/changes will be made to each. However, in my opinion, the most highly-anticipated part of each game is figuring out the ratings that each player will receive. More specifically, the ratings of the incoming rookie class are always extremely intriguing to me. Which player is held in the highest regard relative to their draft position? Lowest regard? Which ratings could make a specific rookie “overpowered” from launch?

As a college basketball fan first and foremost, the players selected in the top-10 of the NBA Draft all had tremendous college (or international) careers. With that being said, let’s jump into predicting NBA 2K19 ratings for each of the top-10 picks from the 2018 edition of the NBA Draft.

(Note: These are NOT official ratings from 2K. These are simply my predictions for the rankings and my reasoning behind the rating. These are also extremely subjective and based on college/international careers, play in the Summer League, and historical ratings of top-10 picks. I also tried to analyze which players could perform better or worse than their overall rating in the game.)
