NCAA Basketball: Predicting NBA 2K19 ratings for incoming top-10 rookies
SF Mikal Bridges, Phoenix Suns
One of the stars on the national champion Villanova Wildcats, Mikal Bridges was selected with the No. 10 overall pick. At the college level, he was a high-end scorer who also showed elite defensive ability as well. With his size, length, and shooting ability, there is no reason to believe that Bridges will be anything other than a dynamite 3-and-D wing at the NBA level (at the very least). Even though he spent a touch more time in college than some of the other top prospects in this draft, he still can grow into a star with due time.
While Phoenix signing Trevor Ariza to a one-year deal certainly looked puzzling at the time, he could end up being a solid mentor for Bridges. Ariza is a longtime NBA veteran who shares similar traits as Bridges when it comes to being a knockdown shooter and a lockdown defender. With an experienced vet taking up minutes, Bridges will have someone to learn from while also not being pushed to be a star right away.
In terms of how this relates to Bridges’ rating in 2K, it is reasonable to expect that he projects as someone you want to have on your roster. Although he might not be a high rating, he brings a few very useful skills to a 2K roster. For one, he can shoot. This is arguably the most important trait for any player to have at the 2K, especially for someone who plays off the ball.
In addition, he has plenty of athleticism to run the floor and should have superb defensive stats relative to his overall rating. Rumors are stirring regarding defense being easier to play in 2K19 and therefore having quality defenders will make that even easier.
Predicted overall rating: 74 overall.
