Another extremely famous college basketball facility, the Dean Dome is the crowning jewel of Chapel Hill. With a crowd full of baby-blue and white supporters, North Carolina fans consistently show out for their team, especially if a certain team from Durham is in town. Due to the fact that Tar Heels are traditionally one of the best teams in the country and that the Dean Dome seats a ridiculous amount of people at full capacity, it should come as no surprise to hear that UNC has an elite atmosphere.

Although there were some criticisms of the cavernous space taking away from some of the sound a number of years ago, that reputation changed almost overnight in the mid-2000’s. The “Wine and Cheese” crowd, as it was coined by Sam Cassell is certainly gone and has been replaced by a raucous 20,000+ for every opponent that comes to town.

Over the past 10 years, the program has recorded a 142-21 (.871) in front of their home crowd. In addition, the fans at the Dean Dome have ruined the visits of 21 top-25 teams to Chapel Hill during this time span (29 total games, .724).
