The 2018-19 season is on the way and a new set of WAC Basketball players are ready to take center stage. Who are the top seniors in the conference next season?

Last year, the WAC had an incredibly strong group of seniors that will need to be replaced this season. While freshman talent is promising, the experience and skill of senior leaders cannot be ignored. Before diving into the Top 5, here is a list of some skilled seniors that missed the cut.

Also considered: Jeremy Lieberman (Cal Baptist), Jordan Heading (Cal Baptist), Damiyne Durham (Cal State Bakersfield), Anthony Harris (Chicago State), JoJo Zamora (New Mexico State)

Let’s take a look at the top seniors for the 2018-19 season.

5. Terry Winn – UT Rio Grande Valley

Terry Winn, a transfer from UTEP, immediately contributed to UTRGV last season after becoming eligible in the spring. This season he will look to continue his success and improve on his scoring numbers with the graduation of the team’s leading scorer, Nick Dixon.

Standing at 6’7” and 230 pounds, Winn’s size and strength allowed him to do well on the boards, averaging 7.2 rebounds per game in WAC play. The lack of a three-point shot means Winn will need to improve his field goal percentage, which was over 50% at UTEP.

While his scoring and rebounding are excellent, Winn’s biggest strength is his defense. However, just like his scoring efficiency, Winn’s ability to protect the rim should probably be closer to his play at UTEP if he wishes to make a case as the team’s best player.

With one WAC season under his belt, and much of the conference’s top big men gone, Winn has an opportunity to establish himself in the paint for the Vaqueros. Now we will just have to sit and watch what he does with his chance.
