UNC basketball is among the elite programs in the country. With this recruiting class coming in, the Tar Heels could be cutting down the nets again soon.

With 14 NCAA Tournament appearances and three national titles within the last 15 years, it is no secret that UNC basketball is one of the best programs in all of college hoops. Led by head coach Roy Williams, the program consistently finishes near the top of the ACC and the AP rankings at the end of each year. During this past season, the Tar Heels once again were superb, posting a 26-11 (11-7 ACC) record and receiving a No. 2 seed in the Big Dance. However, the team fell in just the second round of the tournament.

After making the national championship game in each of the previous two seasons, this was a disappointing end to a strong campaign. However, there is hope that the team could come back better than ever during 2018-19. Of course, it will not be easy to replace full-time starters Joel Berry and Theo Pinson but the program is returning a bunch of talent and reloading with an elite recruiting class.

At the forefront of the returning group is Luke Maye, a preseason frontrunner to win the National Player of the Year award. In addition, double-digit scorers Kenny Williams and Cameron Johnson are also back for their senior seasons. These three are the sure things but then there are also a few very talented rising sophomores on the roster as well.

Regardless of this returning talent, though, the main story heading into this year centers around the three elite recruits joining the team. All three of these players rank within the nation’s top-75 for the 2018 recruiting class and bring unique skills to the table. Overall, the 2018 UNC basketball recruiting class is ranked at No. 14 in the country despite only featuring three players.

Without further ado, let’s jump in and break down each of the recruits joining the team.
