RJ Cole gets most of the attention for Howard Basketball. Meanwhile, rising sophomore guard Charles Williams is set to become a star of his own.

The MEAC conference is not known for having powerhouse basketball programs. In most seasons the conference seems to be overmatched by most of the teams from other conferences. One team stood out from the rest in the conference last year. The team being the Howard Bison, being only able to secure six wins last season.

The thing that made Howard stand out from the rest, was the two prolific scorers on the roster. Not too many teams regardless of record can boast of having two players who averaged over 20 points a game. A previous article highlighted one part of the Howard duo in RJ Cole. The other part of the duo was junior guard Charles Williams.

Williams, when paired with Cole, accounted for 54% of the Bison scoring. Numerous times during the previous season the duo combined to bring the Bison back from large deficits, even though they may not have won the game. The duo was able to keep games a lot closer than they would have otherwise been.

Head coach Kevin Nickelberry is hoping to use the success of his two dynamic guards to move up to rankings of the MEAC conference. The junior guard will be a key part of the hopeful Howard resurgence, as his scoring and all-around ability will allow coach Nickelberry to always ensure that his best players will always have the ball in their hands.
