NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Who will land five-star forward Trayce Jackson-Davis?
Trayce Jackson-Davis is one of the best big men in the 2019 recruiting class. With six teams left vying for his services, who’ll land the Center Grove school’s star?
When it comes to the modern-day big man, versatility is becoming more and more an important trait. Many who dream of going to the NBA and other pro leagues have to have to ability to score inside and out, as well as guarding proficiently those who can do the same.
When it comes to all the forwards and centers part of the 2019 recruiting class, Trayce Jackson-Davis is one of the very best at it. From Greenwood Indiana, the 6’9 forward has the size need to play at the five-spot and operate in the paint, while more than capable of spreading the floor with a good jumper.
He solidified his five-star status this past AAU Circuit session, averaging over 18 ppg and grabbing nearly eight boards a game. As one of the best prospects in the Midwest, countless programs have been offering him scholarships and trying to nail down their future frontcourts.
In the past week, Jackson-Davis has narrowed his options to six teams – Indiana, Purdue, Wake Forest, Michigan State, Iowa, and UCLA. He plans on taking official visits soon with five of them, with the Boilermakers having an unofficial visit from him. It looks bad for them but the star forward lives nearby, so there’s more of a need to visit the out-of-state schools first and foremost.
For this piece, I’ll be looking at each option (in alphabetical order) more closely, looking at where and how he’d fit in with each potential team, as well as their odds of winning with Jackson-Davis around.
