Luke Maye could be one of the best power forwards in the country next season for North Carolina basketball and may win the Karl Malone award for best power forward.

The Karl Malone award goes to the best power forward in the country. Last year North Carolina basketball power forward Luke Maye was one of the final ten and final five nominees for that award.

After a breakout season where he averaged 16.9 points and 10.1 rebounds, the sky is the limit for Luke Maye going into this season and he could be one of the players that could win the award.

Maye went from starting in zero games his freshman year, to starting one in sophomore year to eventually starting in all of the possible 37 games played for North Carolina in his junior season.

With a recruiting class ranked nationally 14th and second in the ACC after Duke, the Tar Heels are in a good position to do damage in the conference and nationally this year.

Maye will be a big part of the Tar Heels quest to win the ACC championship and the national title. It will be good to have somebody that is used to the grind of the basketball season.

Maye has waited for his opportunity to be one of the main factors on the team and with a great season, a Karl Malone award could be in his sights.

Maye is an impact senior that can have success team wise and individual wise. He will lead a balanced attack that is young and has some veteran leadership.
