No. 10: 2012

Biggest recruits: Rasheed Sulaimon and Amile Jefferson

The 2012 class was a very underwhelming class. 247 ranked it as the 9th best in the ACC. The worst part about the class is that it only had two players. Sulaimon had the potential to be a great talent, but it never worked out. He eventually had to leave the program and join Maryland.

Amile Jefferson ended up being a good player for Duke. He was never a star, but he brought a veteran presence to the team in his later years. He also helped bring a title home in his four years.

This group is lacking a lot of things that a Coach K class usually has. It has no clearcut star. It has no depth. Also, it has no true Duke great. Jefferson was a good player, but he’s nothing Duke’s not accustomed to seeing every year. They also have no players that made an impact in the NBA. Most fans would have to Google where either of these players is (myself included).

This might have been a quality class for another school, but it just doesn’t do much for Blue Devils fans. They were disappointed about it when it happened, and it only got worse when Sulaimon transferred. There’s no doubt that it deserves to be last on the list.
