Indiana Basketball: Goals for Romeo Langford in 2018-19
Win Big Ten Freshman of the Year and the Jerry West shooting guard award
Romeo Langford is a five-star prospect, Mr. Basketball in Indiana and a McDonald’s All American. While early in his basketball career he has become one of the most successful players at his age.
The Big Ten Player of the Year award has never gone to a Freshman so that goal is most likely out of reach for Langford. What he can do is become the Big Ten freshman of the year which was won by Jaren Jackson Jr last year. Noah Vonleh was the last Indiana player to win the Big Ten freshman of the year award.
In that 2013-14 season, he averaged 11.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, shot 48 percent from three and 52 percent from the field.
The last Freshman to win the Jerry West award was Malik Monk. Langford could be the next player to do so. During that season Monk averaged 19.8 points per game, shot 45 percent from the field, 39 percent from three and 82 percent from the free throw line.
To be able to get these awards Langford will have to be efficient from the field and the line. Efficiency will be key for Langford to have a good season at the college level and take himself and Indiana far to a Big Ten championship and possible final four.
