Big Ten basketball has some top-notch recruits coming in for 2018-19. Let’s take a look at 10 players who are worth taking an extra look at before the year.

Recruiting is an incredibly vital part of roster construction in college sports. Although the transfer market is seemingly growing in importance every single year, receiving commitments from the top high school players is still the top priority for most coaching staffs. To put it simply, recruiting classes represent the future of the sport. And, for Big Ten basketball, it is clear that the conference has some budding stars coming in this year.

The Big Ten is traditionally one of the best leagues in the country and that is bound to continue in 2018-19 thanks to the recruiting classes coming in to join superb returning players as well. As weak as the conference may have been last season compared to normal standards, this upcoming campaign could make up for that with top-to-bottom strength.

The players discussed in this article were selected via the 247Sports Composite rankings for the 2018 class. I chose the top 10 recruits based on their ranking to analyze for this piece. Of course, there are several other names that will surely play immediate roles for their teams and could even compete for the honor of being the top freshman in the conference this year. Because of this, here is a look at a few of the players who just missed the top 10.

Players who just missed the cut: Eric Ayala (Maryland), Luther Muhammad (Ohio State), Pete Nance (Northwestern), Foster Loyer (Michigan State), Gabe Brown (Michigan State), Jaedon LeDee (Ohio State), David DeJulius (Michigan), and Miller Kopp (Northwestern).

Now, without further ado, here is a look at the future of Big Ten basketball. Hint: it’s bright.
