LSU Basketball: Breaking down the 2018 recruiting class for the Tigers
Danya Kingsby – College of Southern Idaho
Guard | 6-foot-1 | 165 lbs | No. 16 overall – JUCO
Sticking with the JUCO transfers, Danya Kingsby is coming to LSU after two successful seasons at the College of Southern Idaho. While there, the 6-foot-1 guard flashed elite athleticism and the ability to do just about anything at the point guard position. He is a solid creator in the halfcourt, can finish in transition, and is also more than capable of knocking down the open 3-point shot.
During this past season, Kingsby mostly came off of the bench, starting in just seven of the team’s 34 games. However, he did record 22.7 minutes per game and posted excellent numbers when on the court. In total, he averaged 13.3 points and 3.7 assists per game while recording excellent shooting slashes (FG%/3P%/FT%): .458/.382/.805.
Now that Kingsby has joined the team, the expectation will be that he can come in and immediately bulk up the backcourt depth for the team, something that was lacking a year ago. Star sophomore Tremont Waters will be the starting point guard this season but Kingsby should be able to give solid minutes right away. Kingsby has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
