Ohio Basketball is looking to make some noise in the MAC for the 2018-19 season. For that to happen, the Bobcats will have to rely on rising sophomore Teyvion Kirk.

MAC Basketball, like all MAC sports is filled with excitement and talented teams. Lately, the conference has been top heavy and usually dominated by one team. The Buffalo Bulls are the team who has been destroying the MAC Conference for the last few years. This year will be more of the same as it is going to be a race for second place in the conference.

One of the teams who hope to be in the mix is the Ohio Bobcats. The Bobcats experienced some success in the conference in the past. In 2012 the Bobcats, led by current Akron coach John Groce made a surprise run to the Sweet 16. The last handful of years for the Bobcats and new head man Saul Phillips have been forgettable. Coach Phillips does have the luxury of having one of the best players in the conference on his team.

That player is the sophomore guard Teyvion Kirk. Kirk makes his way to the Bobcats via Joliet, Illinois. As a freshman, he was already the best player on his team. Kirk is going to get the keys to the offense this year, and he is going to make the most of it. Coach Phillips is hoping that with more experience and a year in the system will add up to an even better year than the previous for his guard. Can Kirk build from his fantastic freshman year?
