Boogie Ellis is one of the top guards in the 2019 recruiting class. Which of the eight programs in his latest list are most likely to land the five-star player?

There are many who complain about the multiple ways that AAU Basketball has hurt the college game. However, there are many upsides as well, including players having the ability to elevate their respective statuses during the summer.

One of the biggest examples of that this past circuit was Rejean “Boogie” Ellis. He was a very good player beforehand, ranked in the top-100 in most recruiting services and was considered to be one of the better west coast players in the 2019 class.

He became a “great” player during the Nike Peach Jam League this summer, averaging over 23 ppg and displayed an elite ball handling ability while still being able to score and guard off the ball. Ellis has risen in the recruiting rankings to the point that he’s considered one of the best players from coast-to-coast and is now a five-star prospect.

That has to make the programs who’ve been recruiting the San Diego native this whole time, as they’ve now gotten close to landing a five-star player. Just recently, Ellis had listed his final eight teams, with five of them coming from the west coast.

He’s now starting to go on official and unofficial visits and may be considering making a decision sooner rather than later. That’ll be crucial for all the finalists – some more positively than others.

For the rest of this article, I’ll be ranking the eight teams still involved with Ellis. I have no inside information and don’t know what he individually values most in a program but I’ll list the best situations for the five-star guard in terms of two important attributes – winning and playing time.
