While everybody is in awe of both Duke and Virginia, North Carolina Basketball is probably the team with the best chance to win the ACC in 2019.

North Carolina Basketball has been overlooked in the ACC with the talent that Duke has displayed during the month of August but they may be the ACC favorite going into the start of the season.

The Tar Heels are the last team in the ACC to win the National Championship and they are returning players that were on that team.

While their starters will have young players in the lineup they have established veterans like Luke Maye and Kenny Williams that will help the young talent on the team.

North Carolina has had major success in the Roy Williams era and they keep reloading to add more talent. They have been sparked more by veteran leadership recently.

At first, the nucleus started off with the combination of Marcus Paige and JP Tokoto. That team went as far as the Regional Semifinal in 2014-15. Then it was Paige and Justin Jackson. They were able to make it to the National Championship game and they lost to Villanova.

When Joel Berry II and Justin Jackson were able to be the leaders of the team they won the National Championship in 2015-16.

Berry and Luke Maye were last years veteran leaders and that team only got to the second round. This year Luke Maye will be with Kenny Williams as the veteran leaders. They have freshman talent that will help them in a major way.

Their talent is not talked about as much as Duke but mixed in with their senior leadership they should be favorites to win the ACC.
