There was no shortage of impressive Atlantic 10 Basketball coaching performances in 2017-2018. These are the five that got the most out of what they had.

In making this list, I didn’t purely go by team records. That would have been a boring and predictable list containing the coaches of the best 5 teams – a waste of time for all parties involved. Instead, I tried to think about what each coach in the conference had to work with on their roster, and how impressive the job they did was relative to that. In other words, how much better or worse could their team have been if they’d been replaced with a coach of average abilities.

I think it’s safe to say that there were some tough cuts from this list, and fans of certain teams will feel that their coach got snubbed. That’s why I’d like to give honorable mentions to those that were just on the wrong side of the bubble: Phil Martelli of St. Joe’s, Keith Dambrot of Duquesne. Both did well with their rosters, I just feel that the following five went above and beyond.
