Big East basketball programs have already secured commitments from some elite recruits. Here is a look at how the top recruiting classes are shaping up.

Even though Big East basketball is only a 10-team league, it is consistently one of the deepest conferences in the country. Ever since the creation of the “new” Big East, it seems like the majority of the programs in the conference can compete for an NCAA Tournament bid every single season. Even though Villanova, as evidenced by both of their national championships, has clearly been the top program in the league in recent years, the rest of the conference has also been extremely successful.

Yet, in order for the conference to stay among the elite in the nation, recruiting will need to remain strong for each program. Recruiting truthfully represents the future of every team in the country and that is why it is always a major priority for coaching staffs. Now that 2018 recruiting classes are complete around the nation, programs everywhere have started securing commitments from the 2019 high school class.

Although it is still early for teams to fill out classes, six Big East basketball programs have landed at least one recruit to this point. While this does leave four programs (Georgetown, St. John’s, Seton Hall, Marquette) out of these rankings, let’s take a look at how each program with a commit has started their 2019 classes. (All recruiting rankings found in this article are via 247Sports.)
