Kansas Jayhawks

The fact that the Jayhawks have offered Walker a scholarship shows the potential talent level of the prospect. It makes sense from a program perspective why they would want the four-star forward as well. Kansas gets a “one and done” prospect every year or two but has always had four-year seniors to lead the way, which is why they’ve won so many Big 12 titles in a row.

But as expected, the roster is stacked with forwards. Memphis transfers KJ and Dedric Lawson will be seniors when Walker would arrive, and Silvio De Souza could be around still as well. 6’8 incoming forward Ochai Agbaji plays a similar style as Walker, meaning that the two would compete for minutes. Plus, another five-star recruit could be coming into the fold in the future. Walker’s minutes would certainly be in question with Kansas at the beginning but his talent shows that he belongs at a high-level program like the Jayhawks.

Maryland Terrapins

Walker has a similar style of play to Justin Jackson, a 6’7 forward who averaged over 8.0 rpg this past season before getting injured and ultimately going pro. Maryland’s frontcourt will be solid with five-star forward Jalen Smith and NBA prospect Bruno Fernando holding down the fort but both could be gone by the time Walker arrives.

The Terrapins already have a plan B, including both Makhi and Makhel Mitchell as centers. But they’ll need a versatile forward like Walker at the four-spot to balance out the roster. His rebounding and defense would be big for what could be a brand new frontcourt for Maryland.
