Head coach Patrick Ewing is bringing in an excellent 2018 recruiting class. How far can these newcomers take Georgetown basketball?

Rebuilding in college basketball is a multi-year project. For Georgetown basketball, Year 1 of the rebuild under head coach Patrick Ewing seemed to go extremely well. Even though the program did not post a great year in terms of record (15-15, 5-13 Big East), the roster showed excellent growth throughout the year. In addition, it definitely seems as though Coach Ewing was the right selection for the top job both because of his abilities as an on-court coach and as a recruiter.

Heading into 2018-19, Georgetown basketball not only returns a fair amount of talent but Coach Ewing also has the No. 31 recruiting class in the country coming in. Obviously, star big man Jessie Govan will be the driving force for the Hoyas this year but he will not be alone. Most notably, Georgetown also returns four other players who averaged more than 20 minutes per game this past season. With the right steps, these players could also emerge as stars this season alongside the versatile Govan.

However, the four players that could potentially speed up this rebuild tremendously are the incoming 2018 recruits for Coach Ewing. If these players post quality freshmen seasons, then reaching the NCAA Tournament in Year 2 of the rebuild is not completely out of the question. So, having said this, let’s jump in and take a look at each of these newcomers to the program and analyze what they can bring to the roster.
