Expectations for TCU in 2018-19

Last season, TCU was one of seven teams from the Big 12 to make the NCAA Tournament. Things figure to change, with Iowa State expected to get better while Oklahoma and Baylor are likely to take a step back.

It’s hard to tell what the Horned Frogs will look like, considering that they lost their two star forwards. The returning players such as Bane, Fisher, Noi, and Miller are capable of stepping up to star roles but it’s easier said than done. Will they be able to get more than nine wins in league play this time around?

In some ways, this season for TCU will be just as important as the barrier-breaking one in 2017-18. The level of recruiting has already gone up exponentially under Dixon but it has to stay at this level to compete regularly near the top of the Big 12. There’s a ton of competition for the best players in the state of Texas, so having down seasons won’t cut it anymore for the program.

Assuming that Fisher is healthy for the 2018-19 season, TCU should be expected to make the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row. The talent level is good enough and the Horned Frogs may have the next best offense in the Big 12 to Kansas. They’ll score plenty enough to get the wins needed, establishing themselves as a premier program in the state. Teams like Texas, Texas Tech, Baylor and others won’t be happy about the continued success of TCU.
