Newcomers will have to provide depth

The lone returning reserve player for Tinkle is sophomore guard Zach Reichle. The 6-5 Oregon native averaged just 8.7 minutes per game as a freshman. The other key reserves for the Beavers will depend on how Tinkle chooses to deploy his starting lineup. If he opts for a starting five with a conventional center then the odd man out in the position battle between Rakocevic and Wilson will be the first big man off the bench, with freshman Warren Washington and junior Kylor Kelley waiting in the wings.

Washington, at 6-11 averaged 25 points and 13 rebounds as a senior at Mission Hills High School and Kelley, a 7’0 Oregon native makes Oregon State his third in-state stop in three years. Two years ago, he played at Northwest Christian University and last season at Lane Community College where he averaged 9.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 4.6 blocks per game.

If the Beavers decide to play small ball, Jordan Campbell and Antoine Vernon could play significant roles. Campbell is a 6-3 guard from California who was completely dominant as a senior at Adelanto High School, averaging 29 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and four steals. Vernon is a Canadian point guard from Hamilton, Ontario who stands 6-0 who averaged 16.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 7.8 assists and 1.8 steals as a senior.
