Key Additions

After a 22-win season and having virtually all your scoring return is much better than most additions. Nebraska had a relatively quiet and steady offseason. The Huskers were able to add a key assistant coach. They were also able to secure a transfer from former Robert Morris guard Dachon Burke. Burke is not eligible to play this year, but he is going to provide quality competition for the scout team in practice.

The addition of a new assistant coach is the biggest addition Nebraska made in the offseason. After former assistant and recruiting guru Kenya Hunter moved on to be the associate head coach at UCONN. Coach Miles was left scrambling to find a coach who could provide the same recruiting prowess that Hunter did. Armon Gates was the coach that was decided on by Coach Miles. Gates is going to be working with the wings and coaching them up. He is also responsible for picking up the load recruiting left by Hunter.

The effect that Hunter has had on recruiting has yet to be seen. When he was hired by Nebraska the 2018 class was already completed for the most part. However, Gates does have ties to Brewster Academy and to the Chicago area. Both of those are places in which Nebraska has found success recently and Miles hopes that his new hire is able to better those relationships. The new coaching staff is ready to take the Huskers into battle. Gates is a proven coach who has a great track record. Miles is hoping it carries over to Lincoln.
