Michigan State lands Rocket Watts

Although not the most highly-rated recruit to make his college decision this week (more on that soon), Rocket Watts (No. 32) is a huge addition for Michigan State. One of the best scorers in the entire 2019 class, Watts projects as a big-time player in the future. He is incredibly explosive with the ball in his hands and can fill up the basket in countless ways. Quite simply, he can be a one-man offense when necessary and he showed that time and time again on the EYBL circuit this summer.

Still, he does not boast a ton of size (6-foot-2) to play as a shooting guard in the Big Ten so he may need to mold his game a bit more towards the lead guard spot in the future. Regardless, Watts projects as a major star at the college level due to his uncanny ability to score with the best in the country. Head coach Tom Izzo consistently puts an incredibly talented team together and Watts will, without a doubt, play a vital role as soon as he gets on campus.

As the first commit of the class, Watts will play a vital role in helping Michigan State gather more 2019 talent. Coach Izzo and Co. are pursuing a ton of top-level recruits this season and Watts could help entice these players to join him in East Lansing.
