Duke basketball is always one of the top programs in the country. With an exciting recruiting class coming in, what are some keys for the Blue Devils?
There might not be a more consistent program in all of college sports than Duke basketball. Year after year, amidst tremendous roster turnover, the program just seems to always compete for the NCAA title. Head coach Mike Krzyzewski, who has led the Blue Devils since 1980-81, is one of the best in the business both when it comes to top-notch recruiting and elite in-game coaching. And, in regards to this upcoming season, expectations are once again sky-high.
Even though former stars Grayson Allen and Marvin Bagley III (among others) are no longer with the program, Coach K is bringing in arguably the most hyped recruiting class in the history of college basketball. With several future NBA stars joining the roster this year, it is easy to see why many have pegged the Blue Devils as a preseason top-5 team heading into this year. Yet, this kind of roster construction of featuring so many youngsters, many are quick to label the team “inexperienced”. Due to this, there are plenty who are wary of just how dominant this team can be.
So, with the upcoming season quickly approaching, let’s break down some of the most important facets of the game for Duke. If the team is able to hit on all of these, then a deep NCAA Tournament run could be in store. And, for many players on this roster, 2018-19 might be their only chance at college history before embarking on their professional journeys.
