Markese Jacobs was originally committed to Kansas for the 2019-20 season. Instead, he decided to go back home and join DePaul Basketball.

Within the last year, the DePaul basketball team have experienced numerous ups and downs in recruiting. Numerous top players have committed and then decommitted shortly after the commitment. Coach Dave Leitao was tasked with the job of turning this program around. In the season preview written on DePaul. It was mentioned that the Blue Demons have tried to build the program quickly through high-profile transfers.

DePaul which was once a proud program and was once a desirable location for a large amount of high school talent in the city of Chicago. The Blue Demon program is searching for something for the fans to latch on to. On October 8, the Blue Demon program received a huge boost in recruiting. Markese Jacobs, the one time Kansas commit, committed to DePaul and decided to stay home and play basketball in his home city.

Jacobs chose the Blue Demons over offers from Kansas, Illinois and Florida State. The point guard is hoping that he can bring the DePaul program back to glory. After he backed off his commitment to Kansas, the star guard took one of his official visits, and that was to DePaul. Coach Leitao has seen this story unfold all too often for him this year. Hopefully, Jacobs remains strong in his commitment and helps boost the DePaul program.
