What to Expect from Jacobs?

The Chicago native is one of the best point guards in the entire country. He is a 4-star top-100 player and is the second top-100 player to join the Blue Demon program in 2019. Jacobs joins top-50 recruit Romeo Weems and recent 3-star commit Oscar Lopez in the class. Jacobs can carry a team and turn them into a winner.

The 5’11 guard is the shortest player on the floor most nights. He is a great ball-handler with tremendous speed. He may be small but his speed and decision-making make him a lot to handle for opposing defenses. Jacobs is a skilled finisher when he can get to the rim, and is a deadly shooter from deep.

This summer while he was playing on the Nike EYBL tour with the Mac Irvin Fire, he caught the attention of numerous coaches. There are not many incoming freshmen who can dribble and run the break as Jacobs can. When watching Jacobs play, the first player who came to mind was former Rutgers basketball star Corey Sanders.

When paired with a player who has the skill set of Weems, Coach Leitao will have one of the best duos in the Big East conference. Numerous teams wish they had two elite scorers with the prowess of Weems and Jacobs and now the Blue Demons do.  DePaul has had a miserable last two decades but landing players the caliber of Jacobs can turn programs around. Chicago basketball fans should welcome the point guard with open arms, however still be cautious. The Blue Demons have a large hill to climb and the point guard is only one of many pieces they need to do so.
