Syracuse basketball is entering this season ranked in my preseason top-25 polls. Why is this the case and what might make this upcoming season so special?

Syracuse basketball has been extremely successful under head coach Jim Boeheim. In the 42 years of his leadership, the Orange have made several NCAA Tournament appearances while also dancing deep into March on many occasions. And while the last few years have been a bit tough in terms of regular season success, this season has the potential to be tremendous.

Syracuse is returning a ton of talent after reaching the Sweet 16 a year ago and the hope is that the team can build around that heading into this season. There may not be a clear-cut “superstar player” on the roster but that is because of elite balance. The Orange return a superb trio of stars that will lead the roster with a few other key contributors surrounding them. And that does not even include the potential play of incoming freshman.

Jim Boeheim has proven over the years that he is a top-tier head coach and that should be evident this time around as well. The ACC is obviously going to be a gauntlet once again but the ‘Cuse is extremely difficult to gameplan for and they should be more dangerous this year due to the team’s chemistry, experience, and many more factors.

So, as the season draws closer, let’s dive into three major reasons why Syracuse could be in for a huge season.
