Cole Anthony is one of the top players in the 2019 recruiting class. Which NCAA basketball teams are still in the running to land the elite guard?

2019 NCAA basketball recruiting is heating up around the country. Even though the new season is almost upon us, recruiting is a 365-day process for coaches everywhere. For some of the top programs in the country, though, one player has emerged as a top priority: Cole Anthony. A 6-foot-3 guard from Oak Hill Academy, Anthony is ranked as the No. 3 player in the entire 2019 class by 247Sports Composite.

An athletic scorer who can seemingly do everything on the court, Anthony is the type of difference-making recruit that every school in the country would want to add. A confident shooter who also has no trouble rising up for emphatic dunks or finding open teammates in transition, Anthony is a walking highlight reel on the court who can light up any opponent. Additionally, he was electric on the EYBL circuit this summer. In 21 games for PSA Cardinals, Anthony averaged 26.8 points (.441/.380/.892), 7.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game.

But now that the high school basketball season is nearly underway, it seems as though Anthony’s recruitment is starting to heat up. On Oct. 29, he cut his list of remaining schools from 12 down to six:

As is the case with many top-tier recruits, Anthony seemingly has his choice of any school in the country for college basketball. However, as you may notice, the usual suspects of Duke and Kentucky are no longer in the running for landing Anthony. And not only were these two recruiting powerhouses cut from this list but also the likes of Louisville, Kansas, Pittsburgh, and Villanova were all excluded as well.

With these schools eliminated, there are no clear favorites in Anthony’s recruitment at this time. While North Carolina may be the only school holding crystal ball predictions on 247Sports, there are only four total predictions so it would be best to avoid putting too much stock in these. With this being said, though, let’s dive into the six schools remaining on Anthony’s list and analyze how each program is trending and how he may be able to impact each.
