Key Reserves

Ebuka Izundu

Izundu will see a lot of minutes off the bench and is another big guy for the Hurricanes. At 6’10” he will be a guy to help clog up the middle against the opposing teams. He is not a three-point threat as he did not attempt a single shot outside the arc last year. He did shoot close to 70% inside so he can provide a spark down low off the bench. He is a very good rebounder also and could slip into a starting position if he plays well. He is a key piece to Miami’s success or failure this year since they are not very deep.

Zach Johnson

Johnson is a transfer from Florida Gulf Coast and brings experience the Hurricanes desperately need. He scored 17 points off the bench in their exhibition game and could find himself in the starting lineup if he continues to play well. He is not a big guy at 6’2″ but knows how to get to the rim and can shoot from the outside also. Even off the bench, he will get big minutes and like Izundu is huge for the Hurricanes with their lack of depth.

Deng Gak

Gak is a complete wildcard and may not see many minutes this year. But at 6’10” he has the size to help out down low if any of the bigs get into foul trouble. He is just a redshirt freshman so he has a lot to learn but if he can turn into a solid contributor inside he could see his minutes go up.
