Kansas backed up its #1 ranking

I know this is only one game, and Duke just beat up on Kentucky in the nightcap of the Champions Classic, but Kansas’ performance in this game showed that they are secure at the top of the polls. Not only do they have one of the best starting lineups in all of college basketball, they also have the experience and grit to survive pressure situations.

As the season rolls on, Devon Dotson should clean up his point guard play, Legerald Vick will make his shots, and the free throws will fall. As long as Azubuike, Lawson and Grimes are able to stay on the floor and play productive minutes, the Jayhawks should be favored to win the vast majority of their games.

Even though one game is not nearly enough to declare a team the National Championship favorites, Kansas definitely made a statement against the Spartans. Duke may have defeated Kentucky in a much more dominant fashion, but there is no reason to move them over the Jayhawks at this point in time.
