Buffalo Basketball: 3 keys to upsetting No. 13 West Virginia
By Justin Golba
1. Control the ball
This seems like an obvious key to any game, but it applies to this game especially. Last year in the MAC, Buffalo was third in turnover margin and first in assist-turnover ratio. They did a great job of not forcing themselves into bad mistakes and giving the other team a chance at the other end off of those mistakes.
Buffalo returns almost all of their ball handlers from last season and likely will be at the top of the conference again in those categories, but with the way West Virginia plays defense and how they press the ball they will no doubt make it difficult for the Bulls to run the offense they want too. If the Bulls can limit the half court turnovers, that will give them great confidence throughout the rest of the game.
The fact is the less you turn the ball over, the more the chances you will get to score. In a game like this where Buffalo is on the road and playing a better team, it is imperative that they capitalize on every chance that they get.
