With the FBI giving NCAA Basketball the go-ahead to start their own investigation about alleged violations, which teams should be the most concerned?

I’m not sure if you’ve been paying attention (when Zion Williamson has been trying to do his best LeBron James impression, it’s hard to watch anything else!), but there’s been a massive corruption investigation by the FBI of players being paid in college basketball.

Recently, two Adidas executives and a fledgling player agent were found guilty of conspiracy to commit wire fraud against several universities — it appears that they too were looking to get a piece of the pie that is the money made off of the backs of elite college basketball players. The NCAA corruption trials have brought all of that into the larger view of the general public.

What a surprise! The integrity of college basketball, placed under higher scrutiny…and we all thought that every student-athlete was only there for the love of the game. A real pity that they should try to get a piece of the fruits of their labor, and in a capitalist society, to boot.

We can’t be too naïve to overlook the fact that this has been going on for decades in college basketball. This is just an instance of the Wizard being exposed from behind an Oz-green curtain.

Now that the FBI has reportedly given the NCAA the go-ahead to begin their investigations of member schools, coaches and athletic directors across the country are tossing and turning at night, wondering when their school will get sanctioned by the NCAA as a result of their investigations. Has the FBI investigation emboldened the NCAA to dish out heavier punishment than in the past for recruiting-related violations? Only time will tell…based on my conclusions of the recent Adidas trials, here’s 5 programs who should be preparing for the worst.
