Purdue Basketball looks to go 2-0 to start out the season against Ball State. What are the biggest keys for a Boilermakers victory?

Purdue opened the team’s season with a 90-57 win over Fairfield on Tuesday. They had little trouble taking care of an overmatched Stags squad. The Boilermakers led by 17 at halftime and did not let up in the second half en route to their blowout win.

The Boilermakers shot 54% from the field on the game and just under 47% from the outside. This has been their reputation lately and they did not disappoint. Carsen Edwards again showed why many consider him the best player in the Big Ten, scoring 30 points and lighting it up from behind the arc.

Purdue should get more of a challenge on Saturday when they take on Ball State, who is coming off a win against Indiana State. The Boilermakers will look to slow down Tahjai Teague who scored 21 points in their first game.

The Cardinals are a solid mid-major team, but they are not very deep and the Boilermakers will look to wear them down and come out of the game with a 2-0 start. Purdue is a bigger and more talented team and will look to keep Ball State from thinking they have a chance for an upset.

Here are three keys for the Boilermakers to not only beat Ball State but get them going in the right direction for the rest of the season.
