It is far too early for Bracketology projected fields. Still, that does not mean that we cannot analyze the top resume-building wins of the week.

College basketball season is here. The opening week of the new season, although filled with plenty of cupcake matchups, has also yielded its fair share of headlines as well. And while it is way, way, way too early to start talking about NCAA Tournament resumes, there were a few teams who could be regarded as Bracketology “winners” from this week based on their play/victories on the court.

These winners can come in the form of power conference teams who avoided disaster or added major wins as well as mid-majors who already snagged resume-builders. It is, of course, very early but it is also important to mention that an NCAA Tournament resume is all-encompassing and these early performances are just as important as those that come a month from now.

Because of this, all of the results from this opening week can come back to haunt or praise a team come March. Furthermore, the addition of “winning margin” to the new NET rating system this year means that how each team performs in their individual games also matters to the committee. Quite simply, there are many changes to the selection process this year and the only way to protect a future bid is by consistently winning convincingly.

Performing well early matters for many reasons and here are some of the top “winners” from the opening week of the new college basketball season.
