This is the very first Mid-Major rimer, which will be a weekly column discussing all things NCAA Basketball mid-majors. The first edition regards the action in the first week.

Welcome to the first edition of Mid-Major Primer, which will be Busting Brackets’ weekly column from myself, Logan Butts, going over the most notable mid-major action of the previous week.

There will be no set format for this column. Some weeks specific players or plays will be highlighted, while other weeks will feature teams and even whole conferences. And most weeks will combine all of the above.

My only goal each week is to create some fun categories to highlight the top mid-major performances of the previous week’s slate of games.

Obviously, certain players (Mike Daum, Chris Clemons, etc.) and teams (Nevada, Gonzaga, Buffalo, etc.) could be featured in here literally every week based off of strictly their performances. But, it wouldn’t be fair or fun to have a column on the same five players and teams every week (cue national media joke).

So, I’m going to try and feature as many players, teams, and conferences throughout the season. If you see someone who you feel deserves a mention, please let me know and I’ll check them out.

There are a whole lot of players and teams out there in the Division I college basketball landscape, so I could easily be missing a deserving subject.

Full disclosure, I have a weakness for pass-first point guards, do-it-all Swiss army knife types, and big men who can operate the offense from the elbow, but I will try and include all types of players.

Without further ado, onto the first honorees.
